What sets a work truck fleet apart
Two trucks with the same year and model can be very different vehicles once they’ve spent years on job sites. What’s bolted on, how hard the truck has worked, and what it has been used for all matter when a buyer reviews it.
- Service bodies and beds. Body length and type, compartment condition, locks and latches, and any rust or damage around the mounting points.
- Racks and installed equipment. Ladder racks, headache racks, compressors, generators, inverters, cranes, drawer systems and lighting, and whether each one works.
- Duty cycle. Towing, heavy payloads, and long idle times on site all add wear. Engine hours show this better than mileage on trucks that idle or run power take-off equipment.
Describe equipment as it is
Say what’s installed, whether it works, and what you plan to keep. Don’t assume every modification adds value. Some upfits suit only one trade, and a buyer may look at a truck as if the equipment weren’t there. If you’re removing tools, drawers or racks before the sale, note that too, along with any holes or wiring left behind.
An example of useful information
A single line like this for each truck gives a buyer most of what a first review needs:
Unit 14 · 2019 three-quarter-ton crew cab pickup · 8 ft service body with ladder rack · diesel · 128,400 miles, 3,900 engine hours · runs, check-engine light on · partial service records · kept at the main yard, ZIP 78744
Our fleet inventory template has a column for each of these. You can see what goes into a fleet purchase offer and how the fleet purchase process works before you send anything.
Which vehicles we can consider
We review business-owned pickups and work trucks in Austin, Dallas–Fort Worth and Houston. Each purchase depends on the vehicles, condition, ownership details and agreed terms.
Every fleet is reviewed on its own details, so sending an inquiry doesn’t mean every vehicle will be a fit. If some units fall outside what we can buy, we’ll say so during the review.
