Details that matter for vans
Business vans often look alike from the outside and differ a lot inside and underneath. These are the details a buyer asks about first:
- Roof height and wheelbase. Standard, medium or high roof, and regular or extended length.
- Cargo area. Empty, or fitted with shelving, racking, partitions, flooring or ladder racks, and whether those stay with the van.
- Mileage and use. Delivery vans run high miles with a lot of stop-and-go driving; service vans may spend more time parked on job sites. Both show in brakes, transmissions and interiors.
- Visible damage. Dents and scrapes on sliding doors, rear doors and bumpers are common on delivery vans. Note them per van rather than as “normal wear.”
- Fleet records. Maintenance-system exports, fuel-card or telematics reports, and any accident history you have on file.
Shelving, partitions and wraps
Say whether shelving and partitions come with the vans or come out first. Removing them can leave bolt holes or loose wiring, so note that as well. If the vans carry your company’s wrap or decals, say whether you’ll remove them before the handover.
An example of useful information
Six 2020 high-roof, extended-wheelbase cargo vans · gasoline · 95,000–140,000 miles · steel shelving in four, bulkhead partitions in all six · maintenance logs available · all at one yard, ZIP 78758
If each van is different, one row per van in our fleet inventory template keeps things clear. You can also read what goes into a fleet purchase offer and how the fleet purchase process works.
Which vehicles we can consider
We review business-owned van fleets in Austin, Dallas–Fort Worth and Houston, including vans sold with other company vehicles. Each purchase depends on the fleet details and agreed terms.
Every fleet is reviewed on its own details, so sending an inquiry doesn’t mean every vehicle will be a fit. If some units fall outside what we can buy, we’ll say so during the review.
